Dr Sudip Ray has been a lead researcher for over 15 years for the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment-funded multidisciplinary research programs at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is a Principal Scientist at the New Zealand Regional Research Institute (NZIMMR) and an Honorary Academic at The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Auckland. He has expertise in diverse commercial and academic projects related to functional surface and interface research, natural and hybrid-synthetic materials for combating antimicrobial resistance, drug delivery, encapsulation and control release of bioactive compounds, hydrogels and nanofiber membranes for medical therapy and sensor applications. His present research projects include innovative strategies for accelerating Decarbonisation of the Energy Sector towards Net-Zero Emissions and applying Circular Economy principles for sustainable product design and business models. He led several commercial research projects and provided scientific and technical guidance for new product development. His work experience includes DuPont, Switzerland and the University of New South Wales, Australia. He pursued his PhD and MTech from IIT, Kharagpur, and BTech and BSc from the University of Calcutta, India.

Dr. Sravani Gupta with 22 years of golden experience, she recently chaired as senior scientist at The New Zealand Institute for plant and food Research limited specializing in food microbiology with a PhD in chemical and materials engineering from The University of Auckland (UoA). She is leading research in seafood and horticultural produce on the effect of control processes on mainly microbial safety as well as shelf life and quality. Above all she is one of the first point of contact for PFR institute of wide food safety risk assessments. She was the key researcher in a successful 2023 MBIE smart idea project (2023-2026) titled Application of cold plasma, hyper spectral imaging and machine learning to advance NZ’s cell – based protein industries’ led by AgResearch and in collaboration with University of Otago. Her special interest areas are new/novel and non –thermal decontamination technologies/ green technologies.
Her academic background includes PhD from University of Auckland, NZ, BEd from Jadavpur University with gold medal and MSC, BSC from university of Calcutta.
